GETTING "PERSONAL"

Hello and Happy Friday to you. I've gone back and forth trying to find the right "theme" for this blog. Although it's personal in nature, as in separate from my other blogs, I haven't quite personalized it yet. One of the things I think that "makes me so Aud" are the things I happen to like (think Oprah's Favorite Things) and I wouldn't mind sharing those things with you. Oddly enough, this blog will probably be where I am more personal about what's going on in my life (feel free to visit anytime *enter smiling smiley here*).

There's a new dance out (new to me) that's called the Wobble. I just learned about this dance recently at a Valentine's ball I attended. It's the new Electric Slide, the new Cha-Cha Slide. If you're new to this dance like me, check out the video below of a wedding party doing the Wobble at a wedding (shout out to my sis for showing me the vid). They look like they're having a great time.

P.S. This is how I want my husband and I, our wedding party, and guests, to get down on my big day :-) Enjoy.

YOU ARE NOT WORTHLESS

One of my favorite movies is "Memoirs of a Geisha". One of the scenes that always resonates with me is when Sayuri is explaining to her sister geisha an incident that happened the previous day with a man who could possibly be her sponsor. He tried to have his way with her but she fought against him. When her geisha sister found out about it she was upset because not only was Sayuri the most popular geisha in the hanamachi but she was without blemish. That placed her in the position to be given the highest bid. Out of disappointment her geisha sister rebuffs, "If you are found to be worthless..." and walks out of the room. Sayuri, there, sitting alone declares "I am not worthless! I am not worthless."

Sayuri knew the truth about what happened the day before whether her sister geisha believed her or not. I liked that not matter what was said about her, Sayuri knew deep inside who she was and she knew the truth.When you know the truth about who you are, no matter what anyone else says, thinks, or believes, they can not take away your worth or value.

The message that I would like to send to you today is you are not worthless, no matter what anyone else says, thinks or believes. No matter how you feel, what someone has done to you, or even if you brought something on yourself, you are not worthless.

I am a woman of God and although I have my days and have been at the lowest of lows on some days, I know that I am not worthless. I am made in God's image so that alone makes any accusations or feelings of worthlessness null and void.

I would like to encourage you, if you have been feeling anything less than God's best, if it takes a muster seed worth of encouragement, declare to yourself, "I am not worthless!" Tell yourself, "God created me and if I'm created in His image that makes any feelings of worthlessness null and void." Say it as many times as you need to.

Good Morning. I just activated Blogger Mobile on my phone and am testing it out. This may be a much better way for me to blog over here and keep things updated. OBAMA'S TUCSON SPEECH

Hear the speech that President Obama gave at last night's memorial service, dedicated to those killed in the Arizona shooting. It was also a stirring tribute to Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and all who were affected by Saturday's tragedy.

I'm still praying for Gabby and everyone who was a part of that horrible day. Note: There is STILL hope. We may not understand why God allowed this to happen but He has a plan and purpose for everything. If nothing else, I see it as a wake up call for all of us to do some introspection.

Facebook can be very inspiring, especially when you're sharing things of God with other Christians. That's what just happened to me. I've been posting different statuses throughout the day that have been on my mind or what I believe the Lord would have me to share. After reading a post on the Desire More Naturals blog (by the fabulous Shenina Brown), I was super encouraged. It caused me to think about the direction of my graphic design business, but I was also able to plainly categorize how 2011 will be for me:

MY NEW YEAR
It's my "Don't talk about it, be about it" year (What's the point of having a dream if all you do is have it?)

My graphic design business needs to be more than a business but a ministry as well.

I'm taking on the spirit of discernment so I will be able to know my future husband when he comes into my life.

I'm getting rid of the ugly habit of placing folks on pedestals.

I'll do a break down of each in a different post but just wanted to get this on here. Happy New Year everyone. You ready?

I WANT TO ENCOURAGE YOU...

Sooo, I thought I'd be taking a break from blogging, only posting when I thought something was worthy of sharing. It looks like there's been a change of plans lol. One of the things I want to do is encourage women to be the best "them" that they can be. That thought has been on my mind for the last couple days. My other blog, Chronicles of a Future Wife encourages single women to allow God to prepare them for their future husbands. But, I believe, before a woman can be anything to anyone, she has to be something to God and herself first. So stick around. If you are a woman who needs some encouragement, a good word, or anything to help you be a better you, this is the place to be :-) If you like Chronicles of a Future Wife, you'll like it here too :-)

P.S. I'm still taking care of my mom, who's recovering from her lung transplant. I'll keep posting until she starts requiring more attention to get her up and out of the hospital.

Well, well, well, here we are headed into a new year. I'm excited about what's to come in 2011. I've deemed next year, my "be out about it" year. The only thing that stops someone from fulfilling their hopes and dreams is the action they don't put behind them. And, I figure, what's the point of having a dream if all you do is have it? I'll be hanging out over here for a bit as I'm taking a break from my other blog, Chronicles of a Future Wife and will be posting some things as I go along my "be about it year". I still need a place where I can come and share my thoughts and this will be it. I won't promise that I'll blog every single day, but when something comes up that I think is worthy of sharing, I'll post.

Before I close: What are some things you're preparing for in the new year? I'd like to know.

One of the things that "makes me so Aud" is that I'm quirky about things being done in order and with a purpose (translation: I'm not spontaneous at all), to the degree that it makes me hesitate about moving forward with some things.

So goes with this blog.

You see those pixies (pictures) in my banner? Well, they were created with the idea of showing you some of the things that makes Aud, Aud. I was supposed to be working around the idea that my posts would center around those things. Then I started asking myself do people really care that I love photography? Are they interested in my love affair with the written word? What about my prayer life or my relationship with God? (Note: That's probably the only thing where I don't take anyone's opinion into consideration).

Anywho, my point is so I won't prolong trying to fit a rhyme or reason for this blog, I'm just going to post. It may not be about those cute little images in my banner but it'll be something. After all, why have such a cute blog without having anything on it?

MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY: LEAVING IS AN OPTION

Are you in a situation that's not making you happy? Are you trying to hold on to something that's been dead for a while? Are you trying to find every reason that you should stay but the reasons don't give you any peace or make you more stressful?

Sometimes it's hard to let go of something that we've been tied to for a long time. When there's an emotional connection, it's even harder. And because of this, the only option we may give ourselves is to stay and stick it out or wait to see if things will change.

Please consider this: You always have the option to leave.

Granted, there are things worth fighting for, worth staying in, not worth giving up. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about those things that take more than they give, those things that have taken so much, you can't find yourself anymore, those things that you are not necessarily obligated to but you're still there.

If you're going through a situation right now and you're struggling with whether you should leave or stay, don't count out the option of leaving. Pray about it first, of course, listen for God's voice, then take action. Sometimes leaving is the greatest option you can give to yourself.

The idea to start a personal blog was not my own. It was actually an encouragement from my buddy Ms. Understood. It didn't necessarily cross my mind that someone would be interested in knowing about me personally, at least not on a blog level. Her encouragement changed that.

So here I am. Set to blog about all things me. What is that exactly? Well it's a combination of who I am, Whose I am, and a lot of the things I like. What does that mean specifically? Per my twitter bio (read: me, in a nutshell): Jesus Lover. Family First. Blogger. Writer. Graphic Designer. Aspiring Photographer. Shoe Fanatic. Heart's Make Up. Future Wife. Crazy About Weddings.
